First Baptist Church China
In The Heart Of China With China On Our Hearts

We are done.

It is finished.

We have tried our parents faith. We have tried church attendance. We have tried to be good, further, we have tried to live good lives. We say that we have an understanding with God. But something has been lost in translation. Something is missing. Because God does not share in this "understanding". God's ways are not our ways. Our aimless endeavors, our half-hearted attempts to purchase God's grace only end in failure. God understands the cross. We are accepted and loved by God not because of what we may accomplish. Even our best attempts to please God are like filthy rags to put it kindly. God loves us and chooses us not for our good deeds but because he is a good God. God chooses us because of the cross.

We have tried these things and we have failed.
We have tried to do it on our own.

We are done.

We are done with marketing. we are done with branding. we are done being seeker sensitive because none seek Christ.

We are not flashy. we are not bright. We are not shiny. We are not hip. We are not cool. We are not new, though we are continually being made new through the transformational power of scripture.

We were not asleep.

We were dead.

The sleeper may arise. The sick man may still cry for help.

No.

We were dead. We were buried. We were not sick. a sick man needs a doctor.

We were not sick. We were sinners and no doctor could save us.

The sick need doctors.

Sinners need a savior.

We live in the tension of a fallen world. We know what sin is. We live with it everyday. But like the farmer in 2 Timothy 2; we are pulling and plucking the weeds. We are breaking apart. We are stripping away. We are tearing down. we are weeding sin out of our lives and relying on the providence of God's rain to fall on us and sustain us and grow us.

We are done.

We don't want the spiritual highs from organized events to sustain us.We don't live in conferences and camps and concerts. We live in a world devastated by the fall. We don't want to look back at our lives ten years from now and call our years in high school  our glory days in Christ. We don't want event driven faith. We want to be steadfast radical disciples. We want Holiness. We want Jesus.

Steadfast.

Radical.

Disciples.

We affirm that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

We want satisfaction in Christ. We want to stop pawning our affection to lesser gods. We want to destroy all of our idols. We want to worship the only worthy and Holy and deserving God. The God of the Bible.

We want a right relationship with God.

We want Jesus.

It is all about Jesus. It is only about Jesus. It is always about Jesus.

So.

We tread daily into a culture and we are missionaries.
We are in the world. but; we are not of it.
We are sojourners. We are not from here. Our nationality resides in a different world.
We serve a King and a Kingdom.

We are Christians

We are Evangelical

We are Missional

We are Reformed

Our goal is to love Jesus and love others with word and deed That we might see lives transformed for Jesus, that we might redeem our culture, that God might be glorified.

It's all about Jesus
